Veteran Job Fair June 29, 2017

Date Posted: 06/15/17

Veterans seeking a fresh start, better job or new career will find a wealth of exciting opportunities at the Job & Resource Fair, jointly hosted by Franklin County Recorder Danny O’Connor and the Columbus/Central Ohio Building Trades Council.

Free and open to the public, the fair will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on June 29 at the Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, 947 Goodale Blvd. in Columbus. A variety of employers from organized labor will be eager to hire for immediate openings in a wide range of fields.

By reaching out to the community via the Franklin County Recorder’s Veteran ID Program, an event like this joint job fair will connect central Ohio’s talented veterans with organized labor looking to hire.

“The transition from serving to entering the workforce should be seamless,” Recorder O’Connor said. “Why not help a vet who worked as a Naval electrician or an Army mechanic connect with local union apprenticeship programs?”

“The Columbus Building Trades is honored to partner with Recorder O’Connor to expose veterans and members of the community to the incredible career opportunities that exist in the Building Trades. The Electrical Trades Center is one of the premier facilities in the state,” Training Director Steve Lipster said.

“By supporting and hosting this job fair, Columbus/Central Ohio Building Trades shows its commitment to building a stronger, more innovative central Ohio," Recorder O’Connor said.
